Social Media Marketing Stats
Thanks to www.marketingcharts.com for putting together some interesting statistics regarding social media use among marketers. According to a recent survey from Social Media Examiner, ninety-three percent of marketers use social media to market their business. About 88% of those marketers suggested that their social media activities generated more exposure for their business. Other benefits they listed were improved traffic and subscribers, a rise in search engine rankings and generation of qualified leads.
It’s interesting to note, however, that almost half of the marketers who participated in the survey have been using social media for less than a year. Another 39% have been using if for one to three years and 11% have more than three years experience.
The survey also makes mention of the amount of time spent by marketers on social media. The range is from 58% using it for 6 hours a week, 34% using social media for 11 hours a week and about 15% of marketers spending 20 hours a week on social media. This suggests to me that social media doesn’t have to be the time-sucking exercise people make it out to be.
I’m interested in statistics because I feel they can often support my case. I’ve been telling my SEO clients for a long time that if they don’t have a social media presence they are missing out on something that could significantly help with their marketing efforts. But the numbers should be read in context and not taken in isolation. Check out the source at www.socialmediaexaminer.com and formulate your own conclusions.
